Ingredients &
Their Healing Power

We believe you deserve to know exactly what touches your skin — and why. Every ingredient is chosen for its healing purpose, sourced from the finest origins, and used in its most potent, unprocessed form.

Pink Himalayan sea salt and botanicals

Why Cold Process Matters

Heat Destroys. Cold Preserves.

Commercial soap manufacturers use heat to speed up production. This destroys the very compounds that make natural ingredients healing — vitamins, enzymes, antioxidants, and delicate essential oil molecules are all degraded by high temperatures.

Cold process soapmaking uses only the natural heat generated by the saponification reaction itself — never external heat. This means every vitamin, mineral, and healing botanical compound in our ingredients reaches your skin exactly as nature intended, in its full, active form.

The Full Ingredient Story

Every Ingredient, Explained

Mineral Foundation

The heart of every bar

Pink Himalayan Sea Salt

Mined from ancient sea beds deep within the Himalayan mountains, this rose-hued salt is one of the purest minerals on earth. Formed over 250 million years ago, it carries 84 trace minerals including magnesium, calcium, potassium, and iron — the same minerals found in our own blood and cells.

Key Benefits

  • Draws toxins and impurities from deep within pores
  • Replenishes skin with 84 essential trace minerals
  • Natural antibacterial — inhibits harmful bacteria
  • Reduces inflammation and soothes irritated skin
  • Creates a firm, long-lasting bar with a silky lather
  • Balances skin pH for a healthy, radiant glow

The Science

The high mineral content of Himalayan salt creates an osmotic effect on the skin — drawing out impurities while simultaneously infusing the skin with minerals. This dual action is unique to salt-based soaps and cannot be replicated by synthetic cleansers.

Botanical Essence

Calm. Balance. Restore.

Lavender Essential Oil

Steam-distilled from the flowering tops of Lavandula angustifolia grown in the high-altitude fields of Provence and Bulgaria. True lavender — not lavandin — is used for its superior therapeutic profile and gentle, complex floral scent.

Key Benefits

  • Calms the nervous system through aromatherapy
  • Powerful antiseptic — heals minor cuts and burns
  • Reduces redness, inflammation, and skin irritation
  • Balances sebum production for all skin types
  • Promotes restful sleep when used in evening bathing
  • Regenerates skin cells and reduces scarring

The Science

Lavender contains linalool and linalyl acetate — compounds clinically shown to reduce cortisol levels and calm the central nervous system. When absorbed through the skin and inhaled during bathing, these compounds create a measurable relaxation response.

Nourishing Base

Deep moisture. Lasting softness.

Shea Butter

Unrefined, raw shea butter sourced from the karite tree (Vitellaria paradoxa) in West Africa. We use only unrefined shea — the ivory, slightly nutty-scented variety — which retains its full complement of vitamins, fatty acids, and healing triterpenes.

Key Benefits

  • Deeply moisturises without clogging pores
  • Rich in vitamins A, E, and F for skin regeneration
  • Reduces the appearance of stretch marks and scars
  • Provides natural SPF 6 sun protection
  • Soothes eczema, psoriasis, and dry skin conditions
  • Creates a luxurious, creamy lather in cold process soap

The Science

Shea butter contains a uniquely high unsaponifiable fraction (7–12%) — meaning a significant portion of its healing compounds survive the saponification process and remain active in the finished soap bar, delivering therapeutic benefits with every use.

Deep Cleanse

Magnetic purification.

Activated Charcoal

Food-grade activated charcoal derived from coconut shells — the purest, most porous form available. Activated at high temperatures to create millions of microscopic pores, each gram of our charcoal has a surface area equivalent to several tennis courts.

Key Benefits

  • Magnetically adsorbs toxins, bacteria, and pollutants
  • Unclogs pores and removes blackheads naturally
  • Balances oily and combination skin types
  • Gentle enough for daily use — non-stripping
  • Reduces acne-causing bacteria on the skin surface
  • Leaves skin visibly clearer and more refined

The Science

Activated charcoal works through adsorption — not absorption. Its vast porous surface area creates an electrical charge that attracts and binds positively charged toxins, bacteria, and impurities, which are then rinsed away. It does not strip the skin's natural oils.

Regenerative Oil

Renew. Brighten. Firm.

Rose Hip Oil

Cold-pressed from the seeds of Rosa canina — the wild dog rose — grown in the Andes of Chile and Argentina. Rose hip oil is one of the most scientifically validated botanical oils for skin regeneration, used in clinical settings for scar treatment and post-surgical healing.

Key Benefits

  • Clinically proven to reduce scars and hyperpigmentation
  • Rich in trans-retinoic acid — a natural form of vitamin A
  • High in omega-3 and omega-6 essential fatty acids
  • Firms and tightens skin by stimulating collagen
  • Brightens dull skin and evens skin tone
  • Deeply nourishing for mature and sun-damaged skin

The Science

Rose hip oil contains naturally occurring trans-retinoic acid — the same active compound found in prescription retinoids — along with lycopene and beta-carotene. Multiple double-blind clinical trials have confirmed its efficacy in reducing scar tissue and improving skin texture.

Healing Botanical

Ancient healer. Gentle guardian.

Calendula

Infused from the dried petals of Calendula officinalis — pot marigold — one of the most extensively studied medicinal plants in herbal medicine. Our calendula is organically grown and slow-infused in organic sunflower oil for six weeks to extract the full spectrum of healing compounds.

Key Benefits

  • Accelerates wound healing and skin regeneration
  • Powerful anti-inflammatory for sensitive and reactive skin
  • Soothes nappy rash, eczema, and contact dermatitis
  • Antifungal and antibacterial properties
  • Gentle enough for newborn and infant skin
  • Rich in flavonoids and carotenoids — potent antioxidants

The Science

Calendula's healing action comes from its flavonoids (quercetin, isorhamnetin) and triterpenoids (oleanolic acid, ursolic acid), which have been shown in clinical studies to accelerate epithelialisation — the formation of new skin tissue — by up to 40% compared to untreated wounds.

Botanical Essence

Cool. Refresh. Invigorate.

Peppermint Essential Oil

Steam-distilled from Mentha piperita grown in the Pacific Northwest of the USA — the world's finest peppermint-growing region. Our peppermint oil is tested for menthol content (minimum 40%) to ensure consistent therapeutic potency.

Key Benefits

  • Cooling menthol creates an immediate refreshing sensation
  • Stimulates circulation and energises the skin
  • Natural analgesic — relieves muscle aches and tension
  • Antimicrobial — effective against a broad spectrum of bacteria
  • Reduces itching and soothes insect bites
  • Invigorating morning shower experience

The Science

Menthol — peppermint's primary active compound — activates TRPM8 cold receptors in the skin, creating the characteristic cooling sensation without any actual temperature change. This receptor activation also has analgesic effects, reducing the perception of pain and discomfort.

Purifying Essence

Nature's most powerful antiseptic.

Tea Tree Oil

Steam-distilled from the leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia — native to the coastal regions of New South Wales, Australia. Tea tree oil has been used medicinally by Aboriginal Australians for thousands of years and is one of the most extensively researched essential oils in modern science.

Key Benefits

  • Broad-spectrum antimicrobial against bacteria, fungi, and viruses
  • Clinically proven to treat acne as effectively as benzoyl peroxide
  • Reduces dandruff and scalp conditions
  • Soothes and heals minor cuts, burns, and abrasions
  • Effective against antibiotic-resistant bacteria (MRSA)
  • Reduces inflammation and speeds healing

The Science

Tea tree oil's antimicrobial action comes from terpinen-4-ol, which disrupts bacterial cell membranes, causing cell death. Unlike antibiotics, bacteria cannot develop resistance to this mechanism of action, making tea tree oil effective even against antibiotic-resistant strains.
